Licensing
- Nigeria — Payment Solution Service Provider (PSSP) licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria, reference PSSP/2024/019.
- Kenya — payment services provided in partnership with a Central Bank of Kenya–licensed institution.
- United States — USD settlement is provided through an MSB-registered banking partner; HarePay is not itself a bank.
How your funds are held
Collected funds are held in designated accounts at our licensed banking partners pending settlement to you. Merchant funds are recorded separately from HarePay's operating funds on a double-entry ledger, and every balance ties to a corresponding entry at a partner institution.
Stablecoin settlement
Where you choose crypto settlement, digital-asset conversion and payout are executed by a licensed digital-asset partner. Stablecoins are not legal tender and are not covered by deposit-insurance schemes; their value and availability depend on the issuer.
Card schemes
Card acceptance is provided under the rules of the relevant card schemes through our acquiring partners. Merchants must comply with applicable scheme rules and PCI-DSS requirements for any cardholder data they handle.
Complaints
If you have a complaint we could not resolve, you may be entitled to escalate it to the relevant regulator in your market (for example the Central Bank of Nigeria's consumer-protection channel). Contact compliance@harepay.click and we will provide the appropriate details.
Open-source notices
